Statement of Faith…
1. In the Divine inspiration of the Bible (both Old and New Testaments) and that it is plenary and infallible. 2. In the Godhead, existing in Three Persons: Namely, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. 3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead; that He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor. 4. That all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. 5. That justification, regeneration and the new birth, through faith in the Blood of Christ, comes through the Word and the Holy Spirit. 6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth through faith in the Blood of Christ, through the Word and the Holy Spirit. 7. Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people. 8. In the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, subsequent to a clean heart. 9. In all the Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit and that they are valid for today when exercised within Biblical guidelines. 10. In water baptism by immersion, and that all who repent should be baptized in the Name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. 11. In the pre-tribulation rapture of the saints. 12. That Divine healing is provided for all in the Atonement. 13. In the Lord’s Supper and the washing of the saints feet. 14. In the pre-millennial Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. 15. In bodily resurrection: eternal life for the righteous; hell and eternal separation from God for the wicked. 16. That worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, services and other related functions are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God, that He might instruct us. History
The main offices of the University of Christian Studies and Seminary opened in August of 1993. The administrative offices of the college and seminary are located in Eagle River, Alaska, approximately 20 miles from the Anchorage area.
In December of 1991, Until That Day Church in Eagle River, in cooperation with Maranatha Full Gospel Fellowship in Anchorage initiated an education program called the Ministerial Intern Program (MIP). The name of the program has since been changed to the Leadership Development Program (LDP). The LDP is a four-division course of monitored study of the Bible. In April of 1992, the first class of the LDP was initiated with a class of nine students. Since that time, hundreds of students have participated in and graduated from the LDP. The curriculum has been expanded to include participants from around the world.
September of 1993 brought the first semester of classes taught on the campus of UCSS. UCSS, formerly World Harvest Bible Training Center took the name of the FGEA College that discontinued classes in Houston, Texas in 1992. The Houston office of WHBTC was originally called Mid-West Bible College, and was based in Webb City, Missouri.
UCSS has undergone rigorous quality control inspections by various educational agencies. The University’s records, classes, degreed personnel and facilities have all been evaluated. The college and seminary have received outstanding marks in every category. Inspecting officials were particularly impressed with the large Christian library housed on the campus of UCSS. The University continues to maintain the highest level of quality in each of the areas mentioned.
In 1997, Zion Word Theological Institute, in Anderson, Missouri, became an official Cooperating Ministry under the leadership of Dr. R. Lee Davis. Courses taught or developed by Zion Word Bible Theological Institute are eligible for credit through UCSS. In September of 1999, Faith Chapel Bible Training Center in Wichita, Kansas, under the guidance of Pastor Wade Weaver, became a cooperating educational ministry with UCSS. Highway Tabernacle Ministries in Kennewick, Washington has been a cooperating educational ministry since 2002. Under the leadership of Ministerial Chancellor Terry Wetmore, Highway Tabernacle Ministries has proven to be a vital church based educational ministry in the Northwest. Administrative/Religious Exemption UCSS was granted an administrative exemption by the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education in November of 1997. This allows UCSS to issue diplomas and degrees for the three primary majors of Biblical Studies, Christian Education and Christian Counseling. Such programs are limited to members of UCSS. When students enroll in a diploma or degree program with UCSS they are considered a scholastic or academic member of UCSS at the time of registration. Such membership continues until discontinued by the student or UCSS. The State of Washington has also granted UCSS a religious exemption. This permits UCSS to issue diplomas and degrees in the state of Washington as determined by the Higher Education Coordinating Board in Olympia, Washington. Objectives & Methodology
UCSS desires to produce in the student a mature understanding of God’s Word to encourage application of its precepts. The faculty and board of the college wants to instill in the student the understanding that every facet of the Christian walk must be magistrated by the Word of God. This means that all actions in and out of the church must find precedent in the Bible.
It is also the desire of UCSS to institute a greater scope of study as a pattern that must be maintained if ministry is to be effective. UCSS espouses that a ministry will only be as vigorous as one’s study habits are consistent. That which is learned must also be applied.
The Bible college/seminary primarily offers extended campus courses as well as periodic classroom instruction. Students will be held accountable, first to God, and then to Godly ordained authority in completing courses in which they engage.
The Word of God is the standard by which all aspects of campus operations will be measured. Whether the issue is academic or administrative, the Bible is the only guide for the proper administration of this institution.
