“The history of our civilization, the great advances that made it possible, is not a story of cynics or doom criers. It is a gallant chronicle of the optimists, the determined people, men and women, who dreamed great dreams and dared to try whatever it took to make them come true.”
(Ronald Reagan, Riverside, California, May 18th, 1973)

Admissions Procedures

All students enrolling in any course or program offered by UCSS must complete an application form. These may be obtained through the Registrar’s office. There is a 50-dollar fee that must be rendered before the application will be processed. The application fee, and a recent photograph should be mailed to UCSS. Mail such information to:

University of Christian Studies and Seminary
P.O. Box 770454
Eagle River, Alaska 99577

Once the Registrar has the application and application fee on file, the student may then order his or her first course. The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances.

Transfer Credits

UCSS wants to recognize the academic achievements of the student and will take credits from established institutions into account. The Scholarship and Academic Review Committee, along with the President and Registrar will determine if previously earned credits are appropriate for the academic goals of UCSS.

In most cases, the majority of transfer credits will be recognized and assimilated into the UCSS program. They will be designated as transfer credits on the student’s transcript.

Transfer credit assessment will not be done until the student has filed an application and application fee with UCSS.
UCSS has experienced almost universal acceptance of its own credits by other educational institutions. UCSS is an active member in several educational organizations providing the student with an extensive network of contacts and educational opportunities. UCSS and its associated institutions are required to accept credits earned through other programs that meet the same level of educational experience. UCSS maintains some of the highest academic standards in the world for its programs and its credits have been accepted at almost every organization requesting student transcripts.

The transfer of credits from one educational institution to another is highly subjective. Credits earned at a previous college or seminary may not be accepted at UCSS. Credits that have been earned at UCSS may not be accepted by another institution. The primary emphasis of UCSS programs is ministerial in nature. The student is strongly advised to contact other institutions to which they may want to transfer credits from UCSS to ensure that they are indeed transferable.

Life Experience Credits

Credits for life experience will be determined by the Scholarship and Academic Review Committee. A student must request a life experience form from the Registrar’s office, and fill it out as completely as possible. The student may opt to provide additional attachments to the life experience form. The student must keep in mind that in most cases, this form and any attachments will be the only method of determining the credits that may be allotted for a student’s experience. The student should include any information that is felt to be pertinent to the review process.

A credit assessment will be made by each member of the committee without consultation of other committee members. The assessments will be averaged and the Registrar will determine the number of credits to be granted the student. The credits will be entered on the student’s transcript as life experience credits, but will be broken down into applicable courses as determined by the President.

It is not mandatory that a student apply for life experience credits. There is a cost of $15 dollars per credit for awarded credits. This assessment must be paid in full before the credits will be entered on the student’s transcript.
