The Agency for Excellence in Christian Counseling (AECC) recognizes the need for Biblically based therapy (healing). When Jesus talked to people about their lives He was trying to get them to see truths that had always been evident but had been obscured by physical, mental, and emotional issues. He never tried to rationalize about problems or transfers accountability away from those to whom He ministered. He knew that getting people to take responsibility for their actions was the fast-track to solutions.
AECC is designed to support the Christian counselor in his or her professional development as a certified therapist. AECC establishes a code of ethic that affirms to those seeking Godly counseling, that their counselor is education, trained, and dedicated to the Godly standard. AECC realizes that it is God alone that calls someone into the important ministry of counseling, but perhaps more than most other fields, counseling is one that benefits from certification with an establish organization such as AECC. AECC is a support organization. In other words, it does not intend to intrude on counseling ministries beyond ethical standards established in the Bible and testing procedures for counselors and therapists.
LEVELS OF CERTIFICATION (Requirements):
Candidate Status – This certification is for those that may not meet the qualifications for Associate Counselor but desire to have counseling credentials. Membership Investment: $25.00
Associate Counselor – One year Bible Diploma or two year Associates Degree from a recognized institution. Certification must be held for one year with evidence of continuing education. Membership Investment: $25.00
Certified Counselor – Two year Associates Degree or four year Bachelors Degree from a recognized institution. Certification must be held for one year with evidence of continuing education. Membership Investment: $50.00
Associate Therapist – Bachelors Degree from a recognized institution. Certification must be held for one with evidence of continuing education. This level of certification will require that the applicant be examined by members of the AECC certification board. Membership Investment: $75.00
Certified Therapist – Masters Degree from a recognized institution. Certification must be held for one year. This level of certification will require that the applicant be examined by members of the AECC certification board. Membership Investment: $100.00
Doctoral Therapist – The applicant must be the holder of a doctoral degree from a recognized institution. This level of certification will require that the applicant be examined by members of the AECC certification board. Membership Investment: $125.00
